Does Arsenal's £35m defensive target mean Au Revoir, Koscielny?
Unai Emery is looking to bolster his defence this summer and is reported to have targeted PSG's Presnel Kimpembe in a £35m swoop. According to reports in France, the Ligue 1 side are looking to offload the defender as he doesn't get on with their star player, Neymar.
Arsenal's head coach could look to bring in a player he has previously worked with to help solve the Gunners' defensive problems. It would be a good move by Emery as it is looking likely that Laurent Koscielny will leave the club this summer.
Laurent only has one year left of his deal and ARsenal may wish to grab whatever fee they can for him this summer. Koscielny is reported to want to finish his career in France and Lyon are the club leading the chase for his signature. Shold the Arsenal man return to France this summer the Gunners can expect to receive a small fee of around £3m - a bargain for Lyon!
Arsenal will be loathe to lose Laurent's experience but with a small transfer budget of around £50m, they'll need to recoup as much as possible if they splash £35m of it on Kimpembe.
At 23-years-old the PSG defender has a lot more to offer Arsenal going forward than Koscielny when you factor in the latter's injury record in recent years.
If this is to be au revoir to Koscielny, he can leave content in the knowledge that he gave Arsenal his best years and that his service to the club was exceptional.
