End of season awards
Low Point of the Season
This for me was probably the defeat at the Britannia. It sounds awful but by the time we went to Stamford Bridge I was used to it, immunised to the pain almost and whilst Anfield was awful, there remained a modicum of hope that if we continued beating the smaller teams we would have to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. Step up the orcs to squash that flat in the ground. I’ll still never understand why the referee blew the whistle for that game 30 seconds before the added time was up with us about to take a corner as well.
Worst Player of the Season
Probably Monreal, not a nice award to be giving out, but he has been absolutely sh*te whenever he’s played. Fun fact: Monreal was present in the team for all of the 5-1, the 6-3, most of the 6-0 and for both of the 2 goals against Bayern. In fact, Arsenal have only lost twice when Gibbs has played in excess of 70 minutes and have in that time had a win ratio of 62%, as opposed to only 50% when he hasn’t. Keeping Gibbs fit and probably getting an adequate replacement will be key to any title challenge Arsenal might have next season.
